Mommy corner has arrived.

I want to introduce you to our first {Mommy Corner} contributor.  Her name is Kennedy Lantz, and she is one of my favorite people in the entire world.  We met in a photography class a few years ago and became quick friends.  We were destined to be friends.  We were both married in the Las Vegas Temple on the same day, same time, but a year a part.  What are the chances of that? Both have a passion for photography, kids, crafts, and Twilight.  She has such a big heart and is truly one of a kind.  She is a mother of 3 adorable girls and married to an awesome guy. I want to be you when I am a mom! So to sum her up, she rocks in every way possible.  Don’t believe me?  Get to know her through her words:

“Once upon a time I knew EVERYTHING there was to know about parenting.  I knew exactly what I was and wasn’t going to do and how wonderfully behaved my children would be!  I had a plan, my husband was on board with this plan and everything would be rainbows and unicorns.

Then I had a baby.

I can hear you laughing.

Motherhood was, is, and never will be anything you truly plan for.  It’s better to just accept that now.  It will make things so much easier for you in the long run (and believe me, motherhood is one very long run).  Just when you think you are getting the hang of things something happens to turn your well ordered world on it’s ear.  This has been very hard for me.  I’m a planner by nature and when I don’t have a plan things get crazy.  With three little ones now, my life is in a constant state of crazy. It’s awesome crazy, but still crazy.

That said, parenthood is probably the best thing that has ever happened to my husband and I.  We love it.  Every chaotic moment of it.  Over time we have learned some very important things about children and about ourselves.  I know now that I am not nearly as patient as I thought I was.  I know that messes will keep, but my children won’t.  I know that anything left to soak in oxyclean long enough will get clean.  I know that if your day starts off on the wrong foot it is only going to snowball into the craziest day you never thought possible.  I know that sticky kisses are wonderful.  I know that there is nothing  more awe inspiring than holding your sleeping baby in your arms and wondering how you got so lucky. I know that nothing is sweeter than hearing your toddler (who may or may not be covered in crazy amounts of something she should not be covered in) say, “But I love you Mommy.”

It’s a thankless job, this motherhood stuff, but it really is wonderful.  And it is totally worth it as you watch your children grow up and learn to be the amazing people that you know they can be.

Welcome to Mommy Corner!  I hope you stay a while and contribute what you know, love or just to have a ton of fun!” -Kennedy Lantz. www.kennedylantzphotography.com

Introducing {Mommy Corner}

October 6, 2011

I‘ve been thinking about starting an advice column for new mommies or mommies in general for some time now.  I am not a parent yet (just a proud auntie), but I’ve heard how easily it is to become overwhelmed with a new baby.  Some of my clients are not only new parents, but are also new in town and don’t have friends to turn to.  I’ve passed along the tips that I’ve heard or read about to new mommies.  But how cool would it be to go to a place where you can hear from the experts themselves.  YOU! I don’t care if you’ve only been a parent for a week, are a working mom, or an auntie.   We all learn through experience.  So I want to hear from you.  I want my mommy readers to submit a short article about any topic that you think would be helpful to new moms. What do you wish you would have known before you were a parent?

So here are the details of how you can be featured on {Mommy Corner}:

Submit a short article (no longer than 4 paragraphs, but can be shorter) on any topic you’d like.  Here are some categories I would like to focus on: pregnancy, newborns, baby’s first year, toddlers, mommy blunders, funny stories about your kids, DIY projects, & yummy recipes!  You can give advice about something, share an experience you went through, or review a product (good or bad).

Also, submit a short bio about YOU.   Limit the bio to 4-6 sentences. Here are some things you can include:

  • where you grew up
  • how you met your significant other
  • favorite hobbies
  • favorite TV shows
  • most embarrassing moment (if you are brave enough)
  • what you did for your birthday last year
  • your most precious memory
  • favorite books/quotes
  • favorite holiday & why?

Email the article & bio to me@wendhyjeffers.com. Have the subject line read Mommy Corner – Category (ex. “Newborn” for the Category).  I might re-edit part of your article if I see fit.  Lets get the submissions started!

I plan to do features  on {Mommy Corner} once or twice a month to start off.  Not only will your article be featured on our blog along with your short bio, but we will also feature your website, blog (but you don’t have to have one), or business at the end of the article.  Not to mention, the satisfaction of helping other moms who are probably going through the same things you are.  Do not stress if you aren’t a writer, no one is here to judge.  Please do not let this hold you back, I want to hear from you.

I want {Mommy Corner} to be a place where we can go to for help and support.  I want all of the mommies out there to know how special and important they are.  You guys have such an important job as parents.  I want you to know that you are not alone.  I LOVE each and every one one of you. :-)

And we have to end this post with a cute photo…

p.s. Thanks Jen for helping me come up with the name Mommy Corner!
